Job summary

Bohannan Huston is seeking an on-call Experienced Construction Observer for projects in southern New Mexico, based in Las Cruces. The role focuses on representing the project owner on-site, ensuring contractor work aligns with plans and specs, with detailed daily reporting and close collaboration with engineers and managers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in construction observation, strong communication and computer skills, the ability to read plans, and a valid NM driver license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction observation experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer-focused with strong communication.
• Valid NM driver's license with clean record in last 3 years.
• Excellent written and oral communication; proficient in Word and Excel.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction plans and specs.
• Ability to track materials and coordinate with contractors.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction activities on site.
• Write daily field reports.
• Track material quantities.
• Interpret plans and specifications.
• Maintain redline drawings.
• Assist the engineer with RFIs.
• Review material submittals.
• Coordinate field testing of materials.
• Support project managers with related tasks.
• Overnight travel may be required; per diem will be provided.
