Job summary

Stantec is expanding its Northern California on-call archaeological team. Work will occur primarily in Northern California, with potential opportunities across California and in nearby states; fieldwork is weather‑dependent, and occasional office or lab work may be available.

You will identify and record sites, work with a Field Director, collect field data, and participate in reconnaissance surveys, monitoring logs, and excavations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology is required.
• Minimum 1 year related experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home.
• Participation in an archaeological field school is an asset.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.

We are looking to expand our Northern California on-call archaeological team. Work will take place primarily in Northern California, but could include work throughout California, with potential opportunities in the Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. This is a fieldwork position and work need is heavily influenced by the seasonal weather. On occasion, there may be opportunity for office and/or lab-based work.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Participate in identifying and recording areas of archeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
• Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
• Collect field data
• Participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type)
• Prepare monitoring logs, survey forms, site records and other field documentation and provide brief work summaries to be included in technical reports and client communications
• Excavations
• Construction Monitoring

Education and Experience

Pay Range

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$50,100.00 - $70,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
