Job summary

Your Opportunity

We are looking to expand our Northern California on‑call archaeological team. Work will take place primarily in Northern California, but may include assignments throughout California with potential opportunities in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. This is a fieldwork position heavily influenced by seasonal weather, with occasional office and/or lab‑based work.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites.
  • Work closely with a Field Director/Supervisor to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
  • Collect field data.
  • Participate in field reconnaissance surveys (linear and block type).
  • Assist in archaeological impact assessments.
  • Excavations.
  • Construction monitoring.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Interest in Cultural Resource Management.
  • Dedicated to following and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Able to travel and work away from home.
  • Valid California driver’s license required.
  • Additional duties may be assigned or changed at any time.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology required; minimum 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Participation in an archaeological field school is seen as an asset.
  • Field work may include exposure to inclement weather; ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Typical office environment involves computer work and extended sedentary periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements.

Pay Range
  • MN, OH, VT, & various CA, NY Areas – $52,500.00 – $76,100.00 annually
  • CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ Areas – $57,800.00 – $83,700.00 annually
  • NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) – $66,200.00 – $95,900.00 annually
Benefits Summary
