The Practice

Oliver Wyman helps industry leaders in the consumer, telco, and technology industries develop value growth strategies, improve operations, and maximize organizational effectiveness. Our clients are some of the world's most successful companies: wireless and wireline equipment and communications service providers: enterprise IT, consumer electronics, and semiconductor companies; and broadcasters, publishers, platform operators, online and entertainment companies.

In Consumer, Telco, and Technology (CTT), we see consumer-facing industries converging, with technology continuing to disrupt all business models, and B2C, B2B and B2B2C services models ever-growing. We are aiming to build new Partner connections by bringing together those serving consumer facing businesses, such as retailers, as well as technology, communications, media and services, in order to further elevate our narratives and exco-relevance while maintaining deep sub-sector capabilities.

Role

Senior Consultants and Associates are critical members of our consulting team, working side-by-side with our clients. The position offers excellent career and growth opportunities for talented, highly motivated professionals with relevant prior experience. Initial responsibilities may include:

  • Managing the execution of individual project workstreams. This typically includes developing hypotheses; managing data collection, model creation and analyses; conducting primary and secondary research; creatively tackling information limitations; and surfacing insights
  • Synthesizing findings into written presentations; reviewing and discussing with clients and other stakeholders
  • Supporting our Partner group in project delivery through accurate and high quality execution
  • Reporting to Engagement Managers and Principals, effectively seeking guidance for technical expertise or senior-level advice on project execution and client engagement
  • Coaching consultants and helping them develop their skill sets
Desired Skills and Experience

Clients hire Oliver Wyman for specialized expertise, the ideal candidate will have most of the following:

  • At least 3-6 years of relevant experience, ideally with a top-tier strategy consulting firm (or similar organization).
  • Experience within Retail, Consumer Goods, Telecommunications, Software/Technology, Media industries preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity/experience with range of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python).
  • A strong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Know how to take the initiative, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills and put the ones you've already got to good use.
  • Not just intelligence, but creativity too: you'll be ready to come up with novel ideas to solve our clients' biggest problems.
  • Have an aptitude for analytical work, like sniffing out clues in massive data sets or hunting down the key issues in a hugely complex challenge.
  • A willingness to work fluidly and respectfully with our incredibly talented team.
