Job summary

Zachry Group seeks an experienced industrial maintenance technician to support installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex equipment at client sites in North Carolina. You will read blueprints and manuals, use hand and power tools, and follow supervisor instructions to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role requires 4–5 years of industrial mechanical experience, reliable transportation, and willingness to work seven days as needed.

Qualifications

• General experience with industrial machinery installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering specs and read technical manuals to determine work procedures.
• Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
• Minimum 4-5 years industrial mechanical experience.
• Reliable transportation; able to work 7 days as needed.

Responsibilities

• Works with industry-specific and high complex equipment including but not limited to cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, generators, ball mills, ID fans, lube coil skids, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors, etc.
• Plan, inspect, verify and document scope of work.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required by manufacturer specifications.
• Replace gaskets and other defective parts on machinery.
• Dismantle machines/engines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
• Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Assemble machines and bolts, welds, rivets and fasten machinery to foundations or other structures.
• Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files.
• Fabricate and install parts, equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, drilling and/or welding.
• Turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• Unload, inspect, move and set equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
• Use rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and come along to move equipment/materials into place.
• Conduct preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repairing worn parts.
• Follow directions from supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reports to Position

This position does not have any direct reports.

Physical Requirements

• Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat , safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
