Job summary

SOGC in Salt Lake City seeks a Production Engineering Technician to transform raw production data into actionable insights that drive cost reduction, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. You will develop dashboards, manage reporting, and support field and engineering teams with analytical tools.

Using WellView, ProdView, Power BI, and Spotfire, you will enable visibility into operations, deliver strategic recommendations, and ensure data integrity across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a data-related field or equivalent practical experience
• 2–5 years of data analysis experience, preferably in oil and gas or energy
• Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools: Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, or Google Analytics
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with pivot tables, formulas, and macros
• Hands-on experience with oilfield data software like WellView/ProdView
• SQL/Python or similar for data manipulation (preferred)
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of oilfield operations, production metrics, and equipment performance indicators
• Familiarity with regulatory and environmental compliance standards related to oil and gas

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports to track KPIs and production metrics
• Manage data from WellView, ProdView, SCADA; ensure data quality and consistency
• Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements
• Provide insights to operations, engineering, and field teams for decision-making
• Support regulatory reporting and documentation with accurate data visuals
• Create and optimize Excel models and dashboards; build data visualizations using Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data insights with business goals
• Train team members on dashboard tools and reporting processes
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure data-driven strategy
