B&S Site Development LLC in Manassas, VA, is seeking an OHS Manager to lead safety initiatives across multiple sites. You will conduct inspections, develop safety programs, and manage incident investigations to reduce risk while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s in OH&S, 4+ years of construction safety experience, OSHA 30, and strong communication skills. Travel to various project sites is required, with bilingual Spanish preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in construction health and safety with strong OSHA knowledge.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
• Willing to travel to multiple sites and work in varying environments.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Safety Inspections to ensure OSHA compliance and company policy adherence.
• Develop and update safety programs, policies, and procedures for projects.
• Lead investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; report findings and corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety training for employees and subcontractors on hazards, PPE, and procedures.
• Review AHAs, SDS, and risk assessments to ensure accurate risk control.
• Maintain up-to-date safety documentation and records; prepare metrics.
• Promote safety culture with project teams through meetings and toolbox talks.
• Develop emergency response plans and drills for fires, medical incidents, or spills.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting safety audits, training staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has prior experience in construction safety, strong analytical skills, and a passion for cultivating a safe work environment.

OHS Manager Responsibilities

• Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular and thorough site inspections to assess safety hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Safety Plan Development: Assist in developing and updating safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to specific projects.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe working conditions. Compile detailed reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative measures.
• Safety Training: Facilitate safety training programs for employees and subcontractors on various topics such as hazard recognition, excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, PPE, and emergency procedures. Ensure employees are well-informed about safety protocols.
• Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all workers, including subcontractors, adhere to safety regulations. Review Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs), safety data sheets (SDS), and risk assessments.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.
• PPE and Equipment Audits: Ensure that personal protective equipment is properly used and maintained. Conduct periodic audits to verify that safety equipment is available and in good condition.
• Safety Recordkeeping: Maintain up-to-date documentation of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and safety-related statistics.
• Promote Safety Culture: Work closely with the project management team to foster a strong culture of safety and provide guidance on best practices. Participate in and lead safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and drills. Ensure that workers are prepared to handle emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or hazardous material spills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in construction health and safety, with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations.
• Certification in OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
• 510/500 preferred not required
• Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
• Strong understanding of construction site processes and potential hazards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a diverse workforce.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to generate reports and maintain documentation.
• Ability to travel to multiple sites and work in various environmental conditions.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
