Job summary

Ohmstede Ltd. is seeking an Estimator to analyze documentation submitted by customers and prepare punctual, detailed commercial and technical bids in a fast paced and competitive market.

This role reviews customer requirements with engineering and manufacturing, assesses deadlines, and ensures a clear strategy for bid submission. Strong communication and estimation experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or related field is required.
• Proven estimating background with success in a similar setting.
• Experience in craft and field work is preferred.
• Education in Engineering, Construction Management or Operations Management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasion skills.
• Strong organizational, time management and multitasking abilities.
• Technical knowledge in NDE, welding, machining, fabrication, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, vessels and towers.

Responsibilities

• Review customer material requisitions including drawings and specifications.
• Assess key drivers like deadlines and schedule impacts across departments.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, and subcontract estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and upper management on strategies.
• Submit final bid and respond to clarifications from customers.
• Follow up on submitted bids and process orders.
• Handover of processed jobs to engineering and manufacturing with key project details.
• Communicate changes to relevant departments during the project life.

Job Summary

Ohmstede Ltd. is seeking an Estimator to analyze documentation submitted by customers and prepare punctual, detailed commercial and technical bids in a fast paced and competitive market.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Review key aspects of customer material requisitions including drawings, heat exchanger specification sheets, customer specifications, industry recommended practices, terms-and conditions.
• Assess key drivers, such as customer deadlines, and how they relate to internal scheduling among different departments.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, and subcontract estimates based on customer requirements.
• Review customer requirements with engineering, manufacturing, and upper management to discuss strategies.
• Submit final approved bid to customer and answer any requests for clarification.
• Follow-up on all bids submitted to customers.
• Process orders in a timely manner.
• Hand over newly processed jobs to engineering and manufacturing, clearly communicating key aspects of projects such as customer specifications, material lead times, ship dates, and other commercial requirements.
• Process change orders over the life of a project, communicating any technical or commercial changes to respective departments.

Qualifications

• Experience in the refinery industry with mechanical and piping background and/or a four-year undergraduate degree in Engineering.
• Estimating background with a verifiable record of success.
• Previous experience in craft and field work preferred.
• Education in Engineering, Construction Management or Operations Management.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication and persuasion skills.
• Must have outstanding organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Possess strong technical knowledge in a variety of fields, such as nondestructive examination, welding, machining, general fabrication, shell and tube heat exchangers, vessels, and towers
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Projects.
• Ability to articulate estimating work practices to all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Work well with others and be a strong team player.

Work Environment

Normal office and shop environment.
