Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Digital Pressroom Production Supervisor to lead the assigned shift, manage production staff, and ensure safety, quality, and on‑time delivery. The role emphasizes problem solving, training, and coordination with maintenance and other departments.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, supervisory experience in manufacturing (5+ years in corrugated preferred), and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; may write routine reports.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions; solve problems in standard situations.
• Prior supervisory experience in manufacturing or at least five years corrugated industry experience.
• Excellent math and verbal/written communication; ability to differentiate colors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct production workflow; ensure quality standards, efficiencies and timely completion of work orders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production and quality issues; maintain a physical plant presence.
• Direct supervision of the shift's manufacturing staff.
• Evaluate and review hourly employee performance.
• Ensure training of shift's production personnel; update training documentation.
• Review daily production reports.
• Issue work orders to maintenance; ensure preventative maintenance is performed.
• Ensure safety and environmental rule compliance; maintain a safe work environment.
• Interact with other shift supervisors, setup team, and staffing agencies to meet production requirements.
• Assist with cost-effective efficiency and quality improvements.
• Assist management in executing operating strategies and achieving company goals.

The Opportunity

The Digital Pressroom Production Supervisor position is responsible for the production activities and staff on the assigned shift.

How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock

• Coordinate and direct production workflow; ensure quality standards, production efficiencies and timely completion of work orders are met
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to production, and quality issues; maintain a physical presence in the plant

• Interact with various departments and personnel, including other shift supervisors, set-up team, and temporary staffing agency (when applicable) to assure production requirements are met
• Assist with development and maintenance of cost-effective efficiency and quality improvements
• Assist Management in executing operating strategies and plans, and achieving company goals and objectives

What You Need To Succeed

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and basic computer skills.
• The Manufacturing Supervisor position requires prior supervisory experience or at least five (5) years corrugated industry experience and experience in the operation of the same or similar equipment. Excellent math and communications skills (verbal and written) are also required as is the ability to differentiate colors.
