  • Prepare and update utility maps, plan sheets, exhibits, drawings, and related project deliverables using computer-aided design (CAD), GIS, and other applicable platforms.
  • Interpret utility records, as-built drawings, survey data, engineering plans, and other source documents to support subsurface utility investigations and mapping.
  • Compile utility attributes, including utility type, location, depth, size, material, ownership, and quality level, as documented by field and project teams.
  • Perform routine quality control reviews to identify incomplete, inconsistent, or conflicting information and coordinate resolution with field staff and project leadership.
  • Maintain organized electronic project files, databases, drawing files, records, and documentation in accordance with company and project requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, data tables, transmittals, and project deliverables.

  • Track assigned tasks and deliverables, communicate status, and support established project schedules and budgets.
  • Apply established SUE, survey, CAD, GIS, quality, and documentation standards to assigned work.
  • Provide office-based technical support to field operations and assist with research, record requests, and project setup as assigned.
  • Conduct visual assessments of plans, maps, records, and project deliverables for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May remain in a stationary position and operate a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.
What you will bring:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Utility Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in SUE, surveying, utility mapping, CAD drafting, GIS, engineering support, construction documentation, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience reviewing field notes, survey data, utility records, engineering plans, or as-built drawings preferred.
  • Experience preparing or updating technical drawings, maps, exhibits, or project documentation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of underground utility systems and SUE concepts preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps, survey information, engineering plans, record drawings, and construction documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, complete, and consistent technical documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
  • GIS, CAD, utility mapping, or related technical certifications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar computer-aided design software preferred.
  • Familiarity with GIS and utility mapping platforms preferred.
  • Experience with GPS, survey, or electronic field data collection software preferred.
  • Ability to learn and utilize company-specific project management, document management, and technical software systems.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • May be required to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, up to five days per week, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
