Job description

About Rune

Rune Technologies builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment. Our flagship product is TyrOS, an AI-enabled logistics command and control platform that gives commanders a single, real-time operating picture of their sustainment fight, from inventory and distribution to medical and operational planning, even in degraded and contested environments.

We're not a traditional defense contractor. We're a small, fast-moving team that combines deep operational experience in and with the DoD with the software discipline of the best product companies, and we apply that combination to a customer set that desperately needs it. We stay close to our users by embedding directly with military units during exercises and rotations, and we ship constantly based on what we learn.

The U.S. military and its allies face a real logistics modernization problem. We're building the software to solve it.

About The Role

As Office Manager, you will own the day-to-day operations of Rune's office and serve as a key partner to employees, leadership, and external vendors.
This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating order out of ambiguity, solving problems before they become problems, and making the workplace feel organized, welcoming, and high-functioning.

You will have significant ownership over office operations, employee experience, events, vendors, supplies, and administrative processes. As Rune grows, this role will have the opportunity to expand into broader workplace and people operations responsibilities.

What You'll Do

Office & Workplace Operations

  • Own the day-to-day operation of Rune's office and ensure it is clean, organized, stocked, and functioning effectively.

  • Manage office supplies, equipment, furniture, snacks, beverages, and other workplace needs.

  • Coordinate building management, maintenance, repairs, security, and other office-related services.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for office vendors and service providers.

  • Manage office access, badges, keys, deliveries, mail, and visitors.

  • Help coordinate office moves, expansions, and workspace changes as Rune continues to grow.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the office experience and proactively solve operational issues.

Employee Experience

  • Create a welcoming and high-quality experience for employees and visitors.

  • Coordinate onboarding logistics including workspace setup, equipment, access, and first-day needs.

  • Partner with leadership and People/HR to support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Help build and maintain Rune's office culture as the company scales.

  • Organize team lunches, celebrations, company events, and other employee experiences.

Events & Company Culture

  • Plan and execute company events, team outings, offsites, and other internal gatherings.

  • Coordinate catering, venues, transportation, scheduling, and logistics.

  • Help create memorable experiences that bring the team together.

  • Support customer, candidate, investor, and other company events when needed.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Manage recurring office expenses and vendor relationships.

  • Track budgets and invoices related to office operations.

  • Maintain organized records, contracts, and vendor information.

  • Support leadership with administrative and operational projects as needed.

  • Help develop scalable processes and systems as Rune continues to grow.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner closely with People, Recruiting, Finance, IT, and company leadership.

  • Support recruiting and interviewing logistics, including candidate visits and onsite coordination.

  • Assist with new-hire preparation and employee transitions.

  • Jump into ambiguous operational projects where additional ownership is needed.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to work onsite in Rosslyn, VA (5 Days a week)

  • 2+ years of experience in office management, workplace operations, administrative operations, hospitality, executive support, or a similar role.

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • A proactive mindset — you see what needs to be done and take care of it without waiting to be asked.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing startup environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of execution.

  • Strong vendor management and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable interacting with employees at every level of the organization.

  • High degree of discretion, professionalism, and judgment.

  • Proficiency with common workplace tools such as Microsoft Office, Slack, and similar systems.

Benefits
