Job summary

Metric Geo, a respected employee-owned AEC firm, is seeking an office leader for its Charleston office to grow the existing team and portfolio across Land Development, Water Resources, Transportation, and Landscape Architecture.

The ideal candidate will bring a decade of engineering experience and several years of project management leadership, with a background in site/civil, water, or transportation, and a proven ability to develop and win work.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of engineering experience.
• At least 5 years of project management experience or leading a team.
• Background in site/civil, water, or transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and design staff.
• Prepare monthly invoicing and progress reports.
• Build backlog and drive staff utilization.
• Develop proposals with scope, schedule, and costs; coordinate with sub-consultants.
• Negotiate fees with clients and identify new business opportunities.
• Develop teaming relationships with consultants.
• Conduct annual staff reviews and growth planning.
• Recommend pay adjustments and promotions.
• Keep the team updated on design trends and codes.

I am currently working with a top employee-owned AEC firm looking for an office leader for their Charleston office.

This is an opportunity to lead and grow the existing office, working across Land Development, Water resources, Transportation or Landscape architecture. There is a small team of qualified engineers, an office space with room for more hires, an existing backlog of work and crucially, appetite from this company to invest in this location and grow it into a top design Centre in Charleston.

Responsibilities include

Project Management:

• Manage scope, schedule, budget and client expectations.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and design staff as needed.
• Prepare monthly invoicing, internal and external progress reports, etc.
• Build and maintain sufficient work backlog for staff utilization.
• Craft proposals which define scope, schedule, labor hours and fees; coordinate with sub-consultants on scope and fee.
• Negotiate fees with clients. Research and network with current and prospective clients, identify business opportunities.
• Network with consultants, develop beneficial teaming relationships.
• Perform annual reviews for assigned staff, set growth goals and objectives.
• Recommend staff pay adjustments and advancements.
• Keep current and provide team training on design trends, regulations, codes, etc

The Ideal candidate will have:

• At least 10 years of engineering experience
• 5 years of pm experience/ growing a team
• Can come from a Site/Civil, Water or Transportation background
