Job summary

GFT seeks an experienced Office Engineer - Roadway to join our Construction Services team in Central Connecticut. This full-time, onsite role supports roadway projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in the field.

You will inspect culverts, manage federally/state-funded projects, and collaborate with engineers to develop highway construction inspection expertise, contributing to safer, more resilient roadways for the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
• Equivalent agency-approved experience.
• 5+ years of related experience, previous experience as an Office Engineer.
• Experience with Construction Management, Scheduling, and Document Management software(s).
• Proficient in SiteManager, CEES, and/or other client-based systems.
• Experience managing submittals, RFIs, correspondence logs, daily reporting, and change orders.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• OSHA Safety Training.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid driver's license to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

As an Office Engineer, you will play a key role in construction inspection services for culvert rehabilitation and replacement projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience managing federally and state‑funded projects while collaborating with experienced engineers to develop expertise in highway construction inspection. This work is essential to the community, helping to prevent flooding, reduce erosion, protect local ecosystems, and ensure roadways remain open and resilient during extreme weather.

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

• Nicet III or one of the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
  • Equivalent agency‑approved experience
• 5+ years of related experience, previous experience as an Office Engineer
• Experience with Construction Management, Scheduling, and Document Management software(s)
• Proficient in SiteManager, CEES, and/or other client‑based systems
• Experience managing submittals, RFIs, correspondence logs, daily reporting, and change orders
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $170,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
