Job summary

Wabtec in Grove City, PA, is hiring for an Assembly 1 role in a heavy industrial diesel locomotive maintenance environment. You will disassemble and assemble engines, paint parts, and operate various tools and cranes, adhering to SOPs and JSAs while ensuring safety and quality.

Shift work and overtime are required. Applicants should be 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent (or 8 years experience), and bring basic hand tool knowledge; preferred experience includes lean manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent, or a minimum of 8 years of experience.
• Ability to work on 2nd or 3rd shift, scheduled overtime and occasional weekends as necessary.
• Lean manufacturing concepts preferred.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools preferred.
• Automotive or mechanical experience preferred.
• Experience with overhead cranes and safe lifting procedures preferred.
• Forklift operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disassembly and assembly of diesel engines, components, and accessories.
• Paint assemblies, sub-assemblies, and piece parts.
• Operate high pressure hydraulic tooling systems, hand tools, air tools, and cutting tools; along with various blasting and washing equipment.
• Move and distribute parts and materials using cranes, jitneys, and/or other company vehicles.
• Execute various material handing tasks including component/part inspection, labeling, organizing and stocking.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
• Collect quality data and record the results of work performed.
• Adhere to all safety and attendance rules, shop regulations, and equipment requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, housekeeping assignments and all other duties as assigned.

Who will you be working with?

Wabtec employees at the Grove City location operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. Our Wabtec Grove City Engine New Manufacturing facility includes highly sophisticated and automated machine tools and production processes, enhanced by skilled and experienced Wabtec Grove City employees.

Assembly 1 employees will operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. The Assembly 1 role requires detail-oriented individuals with a focus on safety, who can perform high quality work in various assembly operations. Our customers are reliant upon our engines to achieve a 20+ year lifespan.

What do we want to know about you?

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent, or a minimum of 8 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior manufacturing experience

What about the physical demands of the job?

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (Example: safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and steel-toed boots)
• Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and using hand tools
• Must be able to work in a tobacco free environment

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The starting hourly rate of this position is $28.25 plus shift differential for off-shifts
