Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking a Heavy Off-Road Diesel Mechanic to join our Dudley maintenance team. The role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered equipment and hydraulic systems to maximize uptime and reliability in an industrial setting.

Expect to work on heavy mobile equipment such as loaders, forklifts, and excavators, using diagnostic software and standard tools.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing heavy off‑road diesel equipment.
Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and service documents.
Experience using diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting tools.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on heavy off‑road equipment ( loaders, forklifts, skid steers, excavators ).
Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, and cooling systems.
Conduct inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.
Repair and replace components such as pumps, cylinders, hoses, bearings, belts, filters, and drivetrain components.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage documentation.
Operate diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify equipment issues.
Respond to equipment breakdowns in a safe and timely manner.
