Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Company: Interstate Power Systems

This Role Is for Experienced Technicians Only

If you’ve spent years in a shop but never owned a service truck, diagnosis, or customer relationship—this likely isn’t the role.

We are looking for a proven off‑highway technician with service truck experience who can operate independently and handle a wide range of equipment in the field.

You’ll work on everything from:

  • Generators & power systems
  • Air compressors (Atlas Copco and similar)
  • Man lifts, scrap equipment, and material handlers

This is a no two‑days‑are‑the‑same role for a technician who thrives on problem‑solving and variety.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Field Diagnostics & Repairs

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Respond to breakdowns and get customers back up and running
  • Perform repairs accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision

Service Truck Ownership

Work autonomously from a fully reliable service truck.

  • Represent the company professionally in the field

Preventative Maintenance & Inspections

  • Perform PMs, inspections, and system checks
  • Identify issues early and recommend corrective actions

Wide Equipment Scope

  • Work across generators, compressors, construction equipment, and industrial machinery
  • Support customers across construction, industrial, and power generation sectors

Quality & Safety

  • Follow all safety protocols and company standards
  • Take pride in doing the job right the first time
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment

What Winning Looks Like

  • Diagnose and repair issues without hand‑holding
  • Comfortable working across multiple equipment platforms
  • Manage time, truck, and territory effectively
  • Customers trust you and request you back

Requirements (Non‑Negotiable)

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience operating in a service truck
  • Proven experience with off‑highway equipment, generators, or heavy equipment
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Valid CDL (required)

What You Get

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience and capability
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Company service truck
  • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401k)
  • Ongoing training and certifications
  • Opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment—not just one system

Why Interstate

You’ll be part of a team that supports everything from heavy construction equipment to critical power systems, backed by a company known for Pride in Service and deep field expertise.

Bottom Line

If you want to stay in a shop and avoid field work—this isn’t it. If you want to run your own truck, tackle real‑world problems, and work on a wide range of equipment, this is where you belong.
