Key Responsibilities

• Maintains records of all work completed.
• Uses the necessary testing equipment to record the conditions under which the work was done and makes independent measurements of coating dry film thickness.
• Inspects, observes, and documents the surface preparation and sealing of concrete surfaces for quality assurance and to ensure contractor compliance with the sealer specifications, plans, and/or proposals.
• Notifies the Contractor of non-conforming work.
• Records the conditions under which the work was completed.
• Performs data entry into ODOT’s CMS/SITE MANAGER system or local documentation equivalent as directed by the Project Engineer or LPA person in responsible charge (as defined in the LPA participation requirements chapter of the Locally Administered Transportation Projects (LATP) Manual of Procedures).
• Complete special projects and other duties as may be assigned.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

Certification required:

• Successful completion of ODOT Training (Every 4 years).
• Successful completion of the Department’s ODOT Work Type 57 Sealing of Concrete Surfaces Course.
• Successful completion of one (1) of the following requirements:
• National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Certified Coatings Inspector Level 1.
• Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) or Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1.
• Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) or Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Bridge Coating Inspector Level 1.
