Job summary

Goodwill Industries International, Inc. in Ohio is seeking a part-time janitorial specialist to perform day-to-day cleaning of ODOT garages in a safe, professional manner.

Duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, emptying trash, and daily quality checks.

Requires English reading/writing, effective communication, and ability to work with a diverse team; may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Safeguard company materials and supplies; report issues as instructed.
• Maintain MSDS and keep storage/office areas clean.
• Follow all safety policies and Hazmat guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Objective:

Primarily responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of ODOT garages in a safe, professional manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Safety and wellbeing of all employees, clients and the general public who utilize the facilities.
• Ensure the garage is kept clean, safe and well maintained. Assists with daily quality control checks.
• General janitorial duties including: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, emptying trash, waxing floors
• Adheres to dress/ uniform standards including personal protective equipment.
• Safeguard company materials and supplies, protect against theft and use the materials according to instructions.
• Assists with maintaining the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Keep storage area and office/break areas clean.
• Adheres to and follows all safety policy/procedures and Hazmat Communication guide.
• Keeps equipment clean and report equipment issues to immediate supervisor.
• Report safety concerns or any other concerns or unusual circumstances to supervisor. Must follow all safety and other company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Requires prolonged periods of standing and frequent overhead reaching, pushing and pulling bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, handling objects with use of both hands. Employee is required to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls. Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and job requires moderate to intense physical labor. Important sensory skills are sight, hearing, speech and ability to communicate effectively. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, crouch or crawl.

Work Environment:

Involves exposure to various elements including extreme heat, extreme cold, allergens, chemicals, odors and other irritants generated by cleaning. Dress code and grooming requirements.

Must work non-traditional hours i.e. nights, weekends and holidays:

May work various shifts; day, evenings or midnight's. Is required to work alone.
