Job summary

Burns Engineering, Inc. seeks an Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) Structural Engineer to join our Rail & Transit, Right of Way & Facilities team in Philadelphia. You will design and analyze structures for railroad and transit projects, coordinating with contractors and other disciplines.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering and 3–5 years of ROW experience, with an ability to develop calculations, write specs, and deliver high-quality design documents on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil).
• 3–5 years of experience in ROW structures.
• Ability to evaluate technical scope, drawings, and design criteria.
• Strong verbal and written communication with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designs and specifies equipment, facilities, components, and systems for railroad and transit projects.
• Performs studies, analyses, and cost estimates related to design.
• Coordinates with contractors and vendors; participates in client meetings.
• Develops drawings, specifications, and calculation reports.
• Uses engineering software to perform tasks and checks.
• Reviews shop drawings and coordinates with outside consultants when needed.
