Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics is seeking an Ocean Operations Agent II to coordinate day-to-day ocean imports and exports for international shipments from the USA. You will work with customers to qualify requirements, prepare quotations, and process shipments in Cargowise.

This role requires attention to regulatory documentation, tracking milestones, and resolving delays, while collaborating with sales teams and international partners. Strong teamwork and CargoWise proficiency are essential.

Overview

The Ocean Operations AgentII is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day ocean import and export of international freight forwarding shipments out of the USA of international transportation based upon customer requests.

Responsibilities
  • Work with customers to qualify their shipping requirements and obtain all details (regulations, certificates, documentation) necessary for shipment quotation and operating in order to ensure the customer’s request is satisfied.
  • Prepare profitable quotations accurately.
  • Complete shipment process in Cargowise, including data entry, pickup/delivery scheduling, AES entry, bookings, routing, and operational milestone updates.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day ocean import and export of products, including reviewing orders and documents.
  • Track and communicate all delays, damages, problems, and work to resolve customer issues.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ocean import and export international operations such as customer service, data entry of shipments, operations and billing.
  • Manage all aspects of tracking shipments to ensure shipment is moving as scheduled and update system immediately upon verification. Identify and rectify if a shipment has deviated from its schedule.
  • Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with various cartage agents and international partners.
  • Partner with local sales teams to communicate problems to customers, international partners and other stations, as needed.
  • Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met.
  • Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines.
  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

Other Skills We Hope to See:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 Years Freight Forwarding experience preferred
  • Dangerous Goods Certification preferred
  • Certified CargoWise Specialist CCO required
  • Advanced Knowledge of CargoWise
  • Advanced math & geography skills.
  • Identify and resolves problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze numerical data and understand components, relationships, find patterns and draw conclusions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of freight movement, ocean vendors, ocean space configurations, container loads, special loading constraints, regulatory requirements, pricing, service routings, AIT product offerings, equipment types, incoterms, and shipment profitability.
  • Intermediate knowledge of country regulations and AIT policies & procedures that minimize risks to the customer and company.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide using units of currency, weight, volume, and distance measurements.
  • Basic to intermediate experience using MS Office
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people; can effectively present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
