Description
TMC is a therapy provider that delivers physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to long‑term care providers. We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation and care of patients with various physical, mental, or emotional conditions. The primary goal is to assist individuals in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining the skills needed for daily living and working.
- Patient Care Execution: Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, a COTA is responsible for executing therapeutic plans, teaching adaptive equipment use, guiding exercises, and engaging patients in activities essential to recovery.
- Activity and Program Planning: A COTA contributes to planning and selecting therapeutic activities tailored to each patient’s needs and interests, applying creative and practical approaches to meet therapeutic goals.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document patient progress, observe behavioral changes, report observations to the therapist, and adjust interventions to ensure continuous improvement.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on therapy processes, adaptive equipment, and home modifications, providing clear instructions and support for continued practice at home.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree in an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current license/certification in the state of practice
