Job summary

echrshealth seeks a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures under an occupational therapist's plan of care. You will help patients achieve the highest practicable level of function and collaborate closely with the evaluating therapist to ensure optimal outcomes.

The role requires proficiency in interpreting plans, performing measurements within licensure limits, and educating patients and families as needed.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Graduate of a professional training program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association with at least a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional material and communicate effectively.
• Mathematical skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
• Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Computer skills: Basic computer skills including internet use and email.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: NBCOT certification and Michigan OT license/registration as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide OT modalities and therapy per physician orders and treatment plan.
• Measure patient status within licensure limits to assess care effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the evaluating therapist to maximize therapy benefits.
• Educate patients and families per therapist plans and identify further educational needs.
• Assist with discharge planning and follow-up discussions with the therapist.
• Communicate with the care team to promote optimal outcomes.
• Demonstrate proper clinical techniques and use of therapy modalities and equipment.
