Job summary

The Pines at Philadelphia Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support residents under the supervision of an OT. You will implement therapy programs and provide treatments to promote independence and function, following established plans.

Responsibilities include ADL activities, ROM exercises, group sessions, and collaboration with the rehab team to tailor activities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure in the state.

Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy plans under supervision of an OT.
  • Provide treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
  • Perform ADL evaluations under OT direction.
  • Organize and run treatment groups with the OT.
  • Instruct residents, families and caregivers in OT techniques under supervision.
  • Collaborate with rehabilitation team to tailor programs per resident needs.
  • Maintain timely documentation for residents treated.
  • Attend care, staffing and other meetings as OT representative.
  • Report equipment needs and ensure safety and upkeep.
  • Deliver high-quality service in a caring atmosphere respecting residents’ rights.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Position Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  1. 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
  2. 2 Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
  3. 3 Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
  4. 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
  5. 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
  6. 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
  7. 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
  8. 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
  9. 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
  10. 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements
  1. 1 Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  2. 2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
