Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide in-home occupational therapy, aiming to restore patients to their fullest physical ability. You will follow the treatment plan set by the supervising OT and comply with state laws governing home care.

You will observe patient responses, document progress, and report changes to the nurse supervisor and physician. You will educate patients and families on therapy within your scope, working within diverse home settings.

Qualifications

  • Current OTA licensure in state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance or access to public transportation.
  • Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy to patients in their homes.
  • Follow state-specific laws and supervising OT-defined treatment plans.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment to the nurse and physician.
  • Instruct patients, family, caregiver, and other health team members in therapy within scope of OTA.

Job description

As the Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will provide occupational therapy to patients in their homes to restore them to their fullest physical ability.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of occupational therapy in home care, following the treatment plan only as defined by the supervising OT.
  • Follow the plan of care, instruct and aid patients in evidence-based treatment within the scope of the occupational therapy assistant and according to the state laws governing occupational therapy assistants.
  • Observe, record, and report to the nurse supervisor and the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes to the patient's condition.
  • Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in the areas of therapy within the scope of the occupational therapy assistant.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure in state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
  • Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently.
  • Good communication, writing, and organizational skills.
Pay Range

Annual total cash target pay: $49,500 - $109,300
$26.19 - $57.92 per visit point
$21.83 - $48.27 hourly rate
