Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago, IL seeks an Occupational Therapist Registry for inpatient care. The OT will assess, plan, and implement interventions across neonatal to geriatric patients within the Therapy Services division.

Responsibilities include documenting progress, collaborating with the team, and ensuring continuity of care. Requires IL OT licensure and a relevant degree; orientation and supervision are provided.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Occupational Therapist, Registry| Inpatient, Full-Time Days Performs occupational therapy assessments and interventions to patients upon referral. The OTR/L practices in an assigned clinical division of the Therapy Services department (pediatrics, acute care, burns) as assigned. The Occupational Therapist Registry directly reports to Supervisor Inpatient Occupational Therapy. Receives orientation, coaching and mentoring from the Supervisor, Program Coordinators, Occupational Therapist IIIs, IIs and other Occupational Therapists. The Occupational Therapist II is responsible for the supervision of patient care rendered by COTA’s technicians.

Essential Job Functions:

• Evaluates patients utilizing the appropriate tests and measurements; to determine the occupational therapy problem/level of function and recommended discharge follow-up. Promotes and has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the occupational, psychosocial and developmental needs for neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients Establishes occupational therapy interventions based upon the evaluation and examination, the patient/family, the referring practitioner and therapist’s goals Competently performs appropriate occupational therapy techniques and procedures in groups or individual treatment sessions Provides for continuity of patient care through written and verbal communication with team members and other treating disciplines, especially in preparation of planned absences. Makes recommendations for needed patient self-care equipment prior to patient discharge and assists with acquisition of same as appropriate Instructs patient/families in home programs
• Documents findings; patient progress; an all procedures performed within established timeframes.
• Demonstrates effective time management; achieves designated productivity standard
• Complies with QC/QI standards/monitors.
• Attends rounds, conferences and clinics as assigned; reports on patient status and recommends follow up needed for patients requiring OT services
• Performs other duties as requested by senior management.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from an approved program in Occupational Therapy.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care which is age specific appropriate for the types of patients served
• Basic computer skills to allow access to operations and patient data
• Appropriate interpersonal skills necessary to enable positive interactions with patients, families, team member, referral sources, and outside contacts.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Current Registration and Licensure in Occupational Therapy in the State of Illinois
• CPR Certification in BLS

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
