Job summary

ESC of Lake Erie West in Toledo, Ohio is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (PT) for part-time support in the educational setting.

The therapist will assess students, develop goals, plan and provide intervention services to enhance learning and enable independent functioning within the school environment. Licensing and state board requirements are required, with collaboration among teachers, parents and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess and identify difficulties of referred students with suspected disabilities through non-discriminatory, diagnostic procedures
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and connected to the students’ educational program
• Communicate and interpret results of assessments, evaluations, and reports of occupational therapy services to educational staff, parents, students, and other professionals
• Assist students in transferring newly acquired skills to the classroom and home by working with students, their teachers, and parents in a collaborative manner
• Monitor the occupational therapy program goals by collaborating with other professionals and paraprofessionals
• Participate as a team member in transitioning students into and out of educational/therapy programs
• Provide reassessments of students focusing on areas of need at intervals determined to be educationally relevant
• Communicate the needs of the occupational therapy program to the appropriate school/program administrator
• Maintain accurate student records; prepare and submit all required reports
• Maintain an inventory list of equipment; ensure proper care and use of therapy equipment
• Supervise and monitor assigned occupational therapy assistants and aides

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Assess and identify difficulties of referred students with suspected disabilities through non-discriminatory, diagnostic procedures
  Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and connected to the students’ educational program
  Communicate and interpret results of assessments, evaluations, and reports of occupational therapy services to the educational staff, parents, students, and, when appropriate, other professionals and agencies concerned with the students
  Assist students in the transfer of newly acquired skills to the classroom and home by working with students, their teachers, and parents in a supportive and collaborative manner
  Monitor the occupational therapy program goals by collaborating with other professionals and paraprofessionals who are involved with the implementation of the intervention procedures
  Participate as a team member in the transitioning of students into and out of educational and/or therapy programs
  Provide reassessments of students focusing on areas of need at intervals determined to be educationally relevant
  Communicate the needs of the occupational therapy program to the appropriate school/program administrator Act as resource person for classroom teachers regarding strategies, adaptations, and resource materials Provide consultation to the school system regarding student needs, professional needs, and system needs in order for the system to achieve its goals and objectives Maintain accurate and complete student records; prepare and submit all required reports Maintain an inventory list of equipment; accountable for proper care and use of therapy equipment Supervise and monitor in a professional manner the job performance of any assigned occupational therapy assistants and aides

  SALARY
