Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients, plan and implement therapy, and manage discharge planning within a collaborative care team at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

You will educate patients and families, supervise trainees as needed, and work closely with physicians and staff to deliver compassionate, detail-oriented therapy while adhering to professional standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy required.
• Active OT license required, BLS required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills across disciplines.
• Ability to provide education to patients and families and supervise trainees as needed.

Summary

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluation, treament, and discharge planning of patients. The Therapist will work in conjunction with other team professionals to provide patient care, provide education for patients and their families, and to assist with discharge planning. This individual may be asked to assist with training and/or supervision of COTA or Rehab Technicians. Additionally, the Therapist must have the ability to work cooperatively with Physicians, other staff members, patients, and their families with dignity, courtesy, and respect. Additionally, the Therapist will pay close attention to detail and provide superior level of care. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education / Experience

Master's or Doctorate graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy required.

License / Certification

Active OT license required, BLS required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday.

There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.

Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.

There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.

Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.

Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.

Much exposure to computer work.

Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.

Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.

Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
