Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Children’s in Westlake is seeking an Occupational Therapist - Pediatric to join the Child Rehab Department. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to help children maximize independence and daily living skills through evidence-based therapy.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, OT program accreditation, Ohio OT licensure and BLS/CPR. You’ll provide direct patient care, educate families, and supervise support staff while contributing to high-quality pediatric care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Graduate of an OT program accredited by the AOTA is required.
  • Current Ohio OT licensure is required.
  • BLS/CPR certification through AHA is required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their ability to perform daily living skills.
  • Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the plan of care including frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document progress.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about deficits.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
  • Act as clinical instructor or participate in education and evaluation of students.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

A caregiver in this positionworks 8:00am to 6:30pm with Saturday weekend commitments available. This role will float to cover on-leave and PTO.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional,cognitiveand/or psychosocial deficits whichimpacttheir abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

  • Assess patient ability tosafely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.

  • Implement the treatment plan usingappropriate modalitiesand document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.

  • Acta clinical instructor orparticipatein the education and evaluation of students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in a clinical area

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.

  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.

  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient’s arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

  • Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.

  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.

  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient’s description of symptoms and response to treatment.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
