Job summary

IRMC is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to evaluate patients referred for OT services and develop individualized treatment plans that address ADLs, fine motor skills, and cognitive function. The role involves implementing targeted interventions, educating caregivers, and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team to optimize discharge planning and home safety.

The candidate will document progress in the EHR, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor students as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • 1+ year experience in inpatient hospital or rehab setting preferred.
  • PA occupational therapy licensure required; PA driver’s license with good record.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients referred for occupational therapy using standardized assessments and clinical judgment.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings and patient goals.
  • Implement interventions to improve ADLs, fine motor skills, cognitive function and independence.
  • Provide caregiver education and recommend adaptive equipment and home modifications.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (PTs, SLPs, nurses, physicians, social workers).
  • Document assessments, plans, treatments, and progress in EHR in a timely manner.
  • Participate in discharge planning to ensure follow-up care and home safety.
  • Maintain compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and AOTA standards.
  • Support student education and mentorship as appropriate.

Job description

  • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve ADLs (activities of daily living), fine motor skills, cognitive functioning, and overall independence.
  • Provide caregiver education and recommend appropriate adaptive equipment and home modifications.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, physicians, and social workers.
  • Document all assessments, plans, treatments, and progress notes accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in discharge planning to ensure appropriate follow-up care, home safety, and community resources.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and professional standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, AOTA).
  • Support student education and mentorship as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy required, Master’s or Doctorate preferred
  • EXPERIENCE: 1+ years of experience in an inpatient hospital or rehabilitation setting preferred
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
    • BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire
    • Licensure as an occupational therapist in Pennsylvania
    • Valid PA driver’s license with good record and access to a vehicle
