Job summary

UPMC Rehabilitation Institute in Pittsburgh seeks an Occupational Therapist to provide assessment and treatment within acute care and inpatient rehab settings. You will coordinate with physicians, supervise students, and ensure high-quality discharge planning.

Requirements include ACOTE-accredited OT education, NBCOT certification, and ongoing license maintenance. BLS/CPR and state clearances are expected, with experience in acute care preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ACOTE-accredited OT program.
• Must maintain professional license through CE and development.
• Experience in acute care and/or inpatient rehab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain documentation for all OT services, assessments, follow-ups, discharge summaries.
• Co-sign OT assistant documentation biweekly.
• Communicate patient status to referring physicians and healthcare team.
• Complete charge and statistical information reflecting services.
• Schedule patients to meet productivity standards while ensuring quality care.
• Provide verbal/written home instructions to patients/family.
• Supervise clinical education programs for students.
• Maintain license through CE.
• Perform and supervise OT assessments, treatments, and plan adjustments.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service education.

Job description

Provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area of occupational therapy for patients referred to non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff members. May have an individual agreement with an academic institution for instructional services. Participates in research conducted within the Rehabilitation Institute.

Responsibilities

• Maintain documentation for all occupational therapy services, including assessments, follow-ups, and discharge summaries.

• Supervise clinical education programs for students from various universities.
• Maintain professional license through continuing education and professional development.
• Perform and supervise occupational therapy assessments, treatments, and plan adjustments.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs
• Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
• Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
