Job summary

Recover-Care Heartland in Kansas is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to provide diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans so patients reach maximum functional performance for daily living and community activities.

You will design individualized therapy, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the care team to support rehabilitation goals in SNF settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OT program (BA/BS/MS/OTD).
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Proficiency with applicable state and federal standards.

Responsibilities

• Administers evaluations and writes patient assessments per department rules.
• Maintains accurate patient records and reports in a timely manner.
• Directs support staff to achieve patient functional goals.
• Administers therapy programs to increase functioning levels.
• Designs individualized therapy for adults with learning disabilities.
• Provides prevention therapy and educates families on transfers and safety.
• Develops home programs and teaches patients/families to carry them out.
• Participates in patient support groups with the team.

Job Summary:

The Registered Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, and help patients reach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.




• Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.




• Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.




• Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.




• Designs individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.




• Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients' families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.




• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.




• Participates in patient support groups with other team members.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy




• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required.




• Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Physical Requirements:

• Duties require extensive standing and walking.




• Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.




• Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
