Job summary

The staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence. Provides treatment interventions to patients/clients that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• 1. Performs initial examinations, selects appropriate assessment tests and measures, establishes appropriate goals, plans and implements treatment interventions, performs timely re-examinations and modifies goals and treatment interventions accordingly.
• 2. Provides treatment interventions to patients/clients that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• 3. Assumes responsibility for all documentation requirements in a timely manner, i.e., initial examinations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• 4. Provides training to families, caregivers, or medical personnel as indicated.
• 5. Recommends appropriate durable medical equipment in coordination with appropriate team members. Writes letters of medical necessity when indicated.
• 6. Participates in discharge planning, makes recommendations for continued occupational therapy and provides home exercise programs when appropriate.
• 7. Communicates findings with physicians and team in a prompt manner.
• 8. Coordinates and adjusts schedule according to department needs
• 9. Maintains department productivity expectations
• 10. Attends all appropriate conferences, rounds, in services and meetings.
• 11. Will be assigned additional patients in the event that coverage is necessary as dictated by staffing needs
• 12. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary
• 13. Participates in the supervision of Mobility Aids, volunteers, and OT students
• 14. Participates in the development of other staff members and in their training, as assigned.
• 15. Serves as a clinical instructor to students and participates in student lecture development.
• 16. Follows all MSM/MSW policies and procedures.
• 17. Identifies and provides appropriate strategies to educate patients so that environmental constraints and learning barriers are addressed effectively.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited OT curriculum. National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51.9033 - $55.0224 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
