Job summary

Texas Health Resources in Dallas seeks an Occupational Therapist for inpatient rehabilitation on a PRN basis. The role focuses on delivering age-appropriate therapy on a diverse, CARF-accredited 44-bed unit with strong patient outcomes.

Requirements include a completed OT program, Texas OT license upon hire, and BCLS certification prior to independent care. Neuro/trauma experience is a plus; benefits and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Texas OT license upon hire is required.
• BCLS certification required prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
• Neuro/trauma experience or inpatient rehab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform age-appropriate patient treatment within the scope of the license.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety, home programs and assistive equipment.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel regarding patient care.
• Motivate patients to participate in therapy and monitor progress.

Here's What You Need

• Bachelor's Degree Completion of an Occupational Therapy program Required
• 1 year experience, adult acute or inpatient rehabilitation strongly preferred
• Adult Inpatient Rehab Experience Strongly Preferred
• Neuro/Trauma Experience Preferred
• OT - Occupational Therapist Texas Occupational Therapy License Upon Hire Required AND
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

What You Will Do

Performs age-appropriate patient treatment

• Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
• Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
• Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
• Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
• Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment)
• Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment
• Maintains patient safety throughout treatment
• Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues
• Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs
• Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy
