Job summary

MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Laurel, MD is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapist to join our team. You will evaluate patients, set goals, and document progress in collaboration with families and the care team.

Responsibilities include implementing treatment protocols, coordinating discharge planning, and mentoring students and staff. DC OT licensure or eligibility and BLS within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
• DC OT licensure or ability to obtain before beginning in the role.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explain evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporate them in goal setting.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the implementation of treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient's presentation, and the evolving health care environment.
• Consult with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognize and document changes in the patient's condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or medical/rehabilitation consultation.
• Complete appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely document and charge for patient care activities considering the evolving health care environment.
• Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule. Demonstrate a professional commitment to providing frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and empathy in a consumer‑driven environment.
• Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serve as a clinical instructor to assign students, and assist with orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.

Salary: USD $74,214.00 - USD $134,596.00 per year.
