Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist in Oregon to join the patient care team. You will assess, treat, and educate patients, document thoroughly in the EMR, and supervise OT assistants and students.

The role emphasizes adherence to regulations and hospital policies with a focus on productive patient care. Preferred candidates have 1 year of inpatient acute care experience and a Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

Qualifications

• Current unencumbered OT license in Oregon or ability to obtain prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Document evaluation, treatment, progress and discharge in EMR.
• Ensure documentation complies with laws and hospital policy.
• Bill according to documented patient treatment.

• Provide evidence-based OT to adolescent to geriatric patients.

Job description

Position Summary

Pay range: $46.95/hr. to $68.55/hr.

The Occupational Therapist functions as a member of the patient care team by providing occupational therapy services and is accountable for assessment, treatment, and education of patients with the appropriate documentation of such care. Responsible for supervising the patient care activities of their assistant, aide, students and to assist with other educational and research activities conducted by the department or hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Performed majority of the time:

• Documents patient evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge in a timely manner, using EMR.
• Documents in a comprehensive manner that is compliant with local, state, and federal laws and hospital policy.
• Bills in congruence with documented patient treatment.
• Supervises patient care activities completed by the OT assistant, aide, and / or student.
• Achieves patient care productivity standards established by department
• Provides evidenced based occupational therapy to, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.
• Collaborates effectively with case management regarding discharge plan and recommendations.
• Prioritizes patient care appropriately, coordinating duties and clinic resources in an effective manner.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

• Communicates concerns about patient’s medical status with provider as needed.
• Participates in continuing education seminars, department in-services, safety training and other educational opportunities within the hospital and community; uses new knowledge as appropriate situations arise.
• Participates in performance reviews.
• Completes patient safety incident reports as needed.

Decision Making and Budget Responsibilities

• Impact limited to the employee and the wellbeing of the patient.
• Takes an active role in helping the department meet budgetary goals.

• American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS preferred upon hire or required within first 90 days.
