Job description

The salary range for this position is $52.00 - $58.00 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the range is based on experience, internal equity and collective bargaining agreements for union positions.

Hours/Schedule: IHR (In House Registry) to cover PTO, Leave, or schedule gaps. Expectation 192 hours per year, including four weekend days per quarter and two holidays. Weekday availability may also be accommodated.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred)
  • Occupational Therapist license in the state of Illinois
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire

  • Assume complete responsibility for OT patient management from initial contact to discharge, ensuring functional progress, safety and treatment outcome.
  • Maintain responsibility for patient plans of care and collaborate with treating COTA(s).
  • Adhere to department policy regarding evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries; ensure all notes reflect medical necessity and are accurately entered into the electronic medical record.
  • Complete daily notes reflecting patient response to treatment and assessment toward discharge, meeting regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient’s level of understanding and motivation.
  • Participate in committees, department processes and special projects in accordance with clinical expertise and performance plan.
  • Create a culture of respectful communication by listening, asking for input, and being approachable and timely.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with physicians, nurses, case managers and participate in internal and external marketing as expected.
  • Accept constructive feedback and make timely changes, as shown by coaching forms, chart audits and team feedback.
  • Proactively complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established time frames (e.g., coverage notes, PTO/schedule change requests, bonus pay forms, discharge checklists, follow‑up phone calls).
  • Support educational efforts of the department/clinic (e.g., in‑services, Journal Club, new‑hire orientation, process improvement).
  • Actively participate in student clinical or observation programs as a clinical instructor, mentor or observation host as per expectations.
  • Maintain productivity standards per department expectations.
  • Complete all NM required education, competencies and training within required timeframes.
  • Demonstrate willingness to accommodate patient‑care needs and department meeting requirements.
  • Be flexible in schedule or assignment to meet patient‑care needs, staff meetings and department‑specific meetings outside normal hours.
