The use of this method involves comparing assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work Sections of a class specification. The Occupational Therapist I and the Occupational Therapist II are differentiated on the basis of degree of supervisory control exercised by the supervisor over these employees. The Occupational Therapist I performs duties in a community-based program under close supervision at times and under general supervision at other times depending on the complexity of the specific duty being performed. This position performs the full range of duties in a State inpatient, residential or vocational rehabilitation treatment facility or community-based program under general supervision. The Occupational Therapist II is differentiated from the Occupational Therapist Institutional in that the Occupational Therapist Institutional performs duties in a State residential treatment facility under close supervision at times and under general supervision at other times depending on the complexity of the specific duty being performed. This position is differentiated from the Occupational Therapist Lead and the Occupational Therapist Advanced in that the Occupational Therapist Lead assigns, reviews and approves the work of and trains lower-level Occupational Therapists while the Occupational Therapist Advanced functions as the sole Occupational Therapist responsible for all therapy services at a State Facility or local Health Department.
