Job Description
  • The licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) reflects NM’s mission, vision, and values, and complies with all relevant policies and standards.
  • The position includes direct patient care, teaching, committee participation, and departmental process improvement.
  • The therapist serves as a role model for all therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.
Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for OT patient management from initial contact to discharge.
  • Adhere to department policy regarding evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Complete daily notes reflecting patient response, performance, and assessment.
  • Provide educational materials and methods tailored to each patient’s level of understanding.
  • Participate in committees, department processes, and special projects.
  • Create a culture of respectful communication through listening and open conversation.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Accept constructive feedback and make timely changes.
  • Proactively complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established timeframes.
  • Contribute to educational efforts such as in‑services and new hire orientation.
  • Actively participate in student clinical or observation programs as a mentor or host.
  • Maintain productivity standards and complete required education and training.
  • Accommodate patient care needs and department meetings as required.
  • Flex schedule or assignment to meet patient care needs and staff meetings outside normal hours.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Occupational Therapist license in the state of Illinois
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire
Preferred
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy
