Job summary

UNC Health in Lenoir, NC, is seeking an Occupational Therapist I to provide evidence-based evaluation, treatment interventions, and education to patients and caregivers. The role includes student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participation in continuing education and outreach.

Responsibilities include managing daily caseload, documentation and billing, supervising staff as per licensing guidelines, and mentoring learners. Requires NC OT licensure and BLS within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
• BLS within 3 months of hire date.

• Administers assessment tools or instruments to assist in establishing a plan of care and subsequent modifications and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines.
• Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner's performance.
• Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services.

The clinician provides student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participates in departmental and community continuing education and outreach.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

• Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight; can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
