JAG Physical Therapy in Englewood, New Jersey, seeks a licensed Occupational Therapist with interest in hand therapy to evaluate, treat, and educate patients with upper extremity conditions. You will craft treatment plans, fabricate orthoses, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in a outpatient setting.

Preferred candidates have hand therapy experience and CHT, with 1+ year OT experience. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential; EHR/EMR proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree required, Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred, but not required.
  • 1+ years of outpatient hand therapy experience preferred.
  • State CEU requirement completed (NY, NJ).
  • Experience with EMR software preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Strong clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Works as a team member with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations, assessments, and interventions for patients with upper extremity diagnoses.
  • Fabricate custom orthoses for upper extremity patients.
  • Record care data in EMR per guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Conduct initial evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and discharge plans.
  • Bill daily and maintain productivity per department guidelines.
  • Prepare for evaluations per department policies and research unfamiliar diagnoses.
  • Select tests, interpret results, and formulate diagnosis and plan of care.
  • Establish treatment plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Refer patients when needed and complete discharge planning.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education and training.
  • Oversee COTA/OT aides; participate in seminars and in-services.

The Occupational Therapist is forward-thinking who excels at assessing patients’ strengths and weaknesses and devising creative but effective treatment plans. You will be expected to utilize your training and skills to aid patients in the goal of healing, recovering, improving pain level/tolerance, and maximizing functional independence. Occupational Therapist examines patients using fundamental clinical knowledge, implements a treatment plan and executes plan of care on a daily basis. We are also seeking an applicant with experience in Hand Therapy. The ideal applicant will have comprehensive knowledge of Hand Therapy screens/evaluations, treatments and orthosis fabrication.

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree required, Doctorate degree preferred
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred, but not required
  • 1+ years of experience working in an outpatient hand therapy center preferred
  • Completed state regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ)
  • Experience/knowledge with an EMR software is preferred

What You’ll Do
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations, assessments, and interventions for patients with post-surgical and non-surgical Upper Extremity diagnoses.
  • Fabricate custom orthoses for patients with various orthopedic upper extremity diagnoses.
  • Collect and record patient care data that follows format and guidelines of the patient care service, regulatory agencies and third party payers which reflects an understanding of reimbursement systems and their impact on patient care.
  • Initial evaluation, daily notes, reassessments/progress reports, discharge plans and communication with members of the team.
  • Additionally records daily billing and follows department guidelines for productivity.
  • Prepare for the evaluation in accordance with department policies/procedures and standards of practice including obtaining patient history, exhibiting knowledge of patient diagnoses and researching unfamiliar diagnoses.
  • Select and administer tests and measures.
  • Synthesize evaluation results to formulate the diagnosis, goals, prognosis and plan of care.
  • Establish treatment plan based on evaluation results, goals and best practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, patients and patients’ support system. Assess and re‑assess need for modifications to plan of care and goals.
  • Identify need for consultations and/or refer the patient to another health care professional or health care services. Initiate and complete discharge plan.
  • Provide education/training to patient and/supere support system.
  • Functional Training: therapeutic activities ADLs/IADLs, rehabilitation equipment prescription and training.
  • Musculoskeletal Interventions: therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization and modalities.
  • Provide data, note writing using Prompt EMR for all treatments provided.
  • Oversee support staff of COTA, OT aides.
  • Attend annual JAG PT Billing and Coding seminar.
  • Present 1 facility level in‑service annually.
  • Promote JAG PT in the community through lectures/presentation.
  • Demonstrate respectful interactions with patients, colleagues, and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
