Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Rocky Mount, VA seeks an Occupational Therapist for a FLEX/PRN role at 415 S Main St. You'll assess referrals, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver patient care across the continuum.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the care team, documenting in medical records, supervising OTAs, and participating in performance improvement and orientation activities. Requires a VA license, a Bachelor’s or Master’s in OT, and BLS within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.
• AHA BLS-certified within six months of employment.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service and teamwork skills.

• Confirms and interprets physician referrals, performs patient assessments and plans, and implements individualized treatment programs considering age and medical diagnoses.
• Provides patient care based on physician referral and age‑appropriate assessment to achieve goals set with patient/family.
• Coordinates patient care and clinical activities through written and verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, team leaders, managers, physicians, and other members of the health‑care team.
• Documents in the patient’s medical record and completes required forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and department/hospital policies.
• Supervises OTAs and collaborates with therapy staff, support staff, volunteers, and students to ensure efficient clinical activity and quality patient care.
• Participates in departmental activities such as in‑services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review, and staff meetings.
• Supervises Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with Virginia licensure standards and federal regulations.
• Opens new employees and provides guidance to volunteers, students, support, or contract staff.
• Provides problem‑solving, consultation, advising or interpretation services to others internally or externally.
• Suggets cost‑containment initiatives for the work unit/department.

What We Require

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.

• Experience: Preferred site‑specific level of care; one year of clinical experience required for Home Health positions.
• Licensure, certification and/or registration: Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Life Support: AHA BLS‑certified within six months of employment.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service and teamwork skills.

Compensation Range

$56.00 - $56.00 per hour. Employee pay is based on qualifications, credentials, education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
