Job summary

Carle Health in Bloomington, IL is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients of all ages, serving as a clinical resource for staff and students.

You will design plans of care, educate patients and families, supervise COTA and rehab staff, document outcomes, and collaborate with the care team to support safe discharge and meaningful functional goals.

Open to part-time schedules with sign-on bonuses and relocation assistance to qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in IL.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patient transfers with safe body mechanics.
  • Designs plans of care with goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plan.
  • Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other health care providers.
  • Evaluates clinical findings to determine physiotherapy diagnoses and outcomes.
  • Performs examinations and selects appropriate assessment methods.
  • Screens patients to determine need for further therapy services.
  • Supervises COTA and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Documents evaluations and plans of care per policy.
  • Implements intervention plans using functional activities.
  • Uses standardized outcomes to reflect functional performance.
  • Completes documentation per regulatory standards.
  • Collaborates with patient and family throughout rehabilitation.

$7,500 Sign-on Bonus Available for <1 yr of experience!

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.

Open to Part Time.

Qualifications
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Education: Bachelor's Degree: Occupational Therapy (Required)
  • Work Experience:
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates ability to perform patient transfers with assistance as needed from bed, chair and floor, if applicable. Is aware of and demonstrates safe and appropriate body mechanics to reduce the risk of injury to self, staff and patients.
  • Designs an appropriate plan of care that integrates goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plan. Adjusts the care based on patient response and available evidence.
  • Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
  • Evaluates clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.
  • Performs examination, selecting reliable and valid examination methods relevant to the chief complaint, results of screening, and history.
  • Screens patients using procedures to determine the effectiveness of and need for further therapy services, if appropriate.
  • Uses support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Monitors the care delivered by support personnel and provides regular feedback.
  • Documents evaluations and plans of care according to department policy including goals, modifications of treatment plans and patients' response to treatments.
  • Evaluates and implements intervention plans utilizing activities that are functional in nature and take into consideration the functional and emotional needs of the patient/family. Modifies approach in response to patient behavior and performance.
  • Utilizes standardized outcomes measures in a uniform manner to ensure functional performance is accurately reflected.
  • Completes documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and significant others throughout the rehabilitation process and provides education/family training as necessary.
  • Provides supervision to COTA and rehabilitation technicians in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Clearly communicates patient performance, change in status, activity/transfer recommendations, and recommendations for discharge disposition and equipment required for the next level of care with the medical team.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $39.13per hour - $67.3per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
