Aveanna Healthcare delivers a one-of-a-kind continuum of care, seeking to provide adults with the highest quality of life. As part of this continuum, we offer in-home personal care to help clients maintain good personal hygiene including bathing, shaving, grooming, dressing, and maintaining a healthy and safe environment. Aveanna is hiring an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to perform appropriate, timely, and accurate treatments and/or screens of patients, demonstrating consistency in clinical judgment and behavior, and effectively communicating with both the Occupational Therapist and office staff. The Occupational Therapist Assistant is also expected to adhere to all policies, procedures, and professional standards of practice; support program growth through development and implementation; meet productivity standards; and contribute to a positive work environment aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by the physician under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  2. Follow policies and procedures and conform to all applicable patient care standards, licensure regulations, and state laws.
  3. Carry out appropriate techniques according to identified goals and treatment programs.
  4. Administer care to ensure patient safety.
  5. Participate in coordination of services (including discharge planning) with healthcare teams, physicians, parents/guardians, nurses, and others.
  6. Share knowledge and facilitate learning experiences to improve performance of targeted groups.
  7. Document according to policy and procedure with minimal supervision.
  8. Ensure documentation is effective to prevent denials upon review by payers.
  9. Update oneself on the patient's clinical condition.
  10. Maintain effective communication with the Occupational Therapist, staff, healthcare team, and family.
  11. Participate in continuing education for professional development.
  12. Record hours worked, billable time, and other required data as per company guidelines.
  13. Respect and uphold patient's rights.
  14. Serve as a resource for the Occupational Therapist and clinical staff.
Requirements
  • Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapist Assistant license in Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with care policies.
  • Compliance with health-related requirements, including vaccinations and testing, in relevant jurisdictions, with exemptions as appropriate.
