Job summary

Watertown Health Care Center in Watertown, WI is seeking an Occupational Therapy Aide to support residents' independence under an OT's supervision.

You'll work within an interdisciplinary team to provide therapeutic activities, document care, and help residents achieve the highest possible level of function in a compassionate, professional environment.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical information.
  • Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Responsibilities

  • Follow physicians’ orders for resident care and directions of the occupational therapist.
  • Provide treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function within their abilities.
  • Provide adaptive equipment and preventative measures to prevent decline in residents’ function.
  • Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and third-party payers.
  • Observe infection control procedures and ensure resident safety under supervision.
  • Collaborate cooperatively with residents, families, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Follow facility policies and Residents' Rights policies and Corporate Compliance Program.

Purpose of this position

The purpose of this position is to treat and document care for residents with impaired ability to perform at an independent level due to disease process under the supervision of an occupational therapist; participate in the interdisciplinary team meetings as required.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Follow physicians’ orders for resident care and follow directions of the occupational therapist.
  • Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function possible within the confines of his/her physical abilities.
  • Provide appropriate treatment, preventative measures and adaptive equipment to prevent decline in residents' function.
  • Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and third-party payers.
  • Provide adaptive equipment and preventative measures to prevent decline in residents' function.
  • Observe infection control procedures.
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Observe all facility policies and procedures.
  • Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Observe guidelines in the employees' handbook.
  • Follow facility Residents' Rights policies.
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance Program Code of Conduct and policies and procedures.
  • Attend Corporate Compliance Program in servicing as required.
  • Comply with facility policies and procedures against discrimination and sexual harassment.
  • Protect the privacy of resident Protected Health Information.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of all resident and facility information.
  • Come to work in clean, neat attire and consistently present a professional appearance.
  • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner
  • Preform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
  • Preform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
  • Support and respect other employees.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential physical and intellectual duty as identified. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Communication/Language Skills — Must have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical information. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, their families and other healthcare professionals. Ability to present information to supervisor.
  • Reasoning Ability — Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
