Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Denton, TX is seeking an Occupational Therapist PRN to assess, plan and implement therapy for patients across CV acute care settings. This role includes cross-training at the Heart Hospital Rehabilitation site and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The position emphasizes clinical excellence, documentation, patient education, and adherence to regulatory guidelines while supporting system goals.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) certification.
  • BLS certification (within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, treats and monitors patient; modifies therapy plan.
  • Documents clinical notes thoroughly and enters charges.
  • Educates patients and families; collaborates with care team.
  • Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
  • Advances clinical skills through education and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational, national, and state guidelines.

  • Facility/Location: Baylor Scott White Heart Hospital 2801 South Mayhill Rd. Denton, Texas 76208
  • Shift/Schedule: PRN Day Shift
  • Acute Care experience preferred

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist PRN plans, organizes, and provides professional services in therapeutic programs. Clinical practice includes evaluation and therapy planning to help rehabilitate disabled individuals. Works closely with patients and family to meet treatment goals.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Evaluates, treats and monitors patient. Modifies therapy program and goals.
  • Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner. Enters charges accurately.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and the medical care team. Provides education to patients, family, and staff.
  • Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
  • Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Imparts knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues. Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains awareness of system goals. Aligns personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.

  • Must possess excellent social relation skills to include excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate aptitude in assigned areas as specified for each clinician.
  • Exhibits proven synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team. Assures excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
  • High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

  • EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

  • Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
