Job summary

Onward Education invites a dedicated School-Based Occupational Therapist to join a Marion County, Indiana district for the 2026–2027 school year. This onsite role serves K–6 students with a diverse caseload, delivering therapy aligned to IEP goals in the school setting.

You'll evaluate, plan, and implement OT interventions to improve fine motor, sensory processing, handwriting, and participation, while collaborating with teachers, families, and related service providers to support student

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Active Indiana OT license required.
  • NBCOT certification current.
  • Experience with pediatric/school-aged populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of special education regulations and IEPs.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide school-based OT aligned with IEP goals and educational needs.
  • Conduct evaluations and reassessments to identify functional, sensory, motor, and educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized OT treatment plans for classroom participation.
  • Support fine motor, handwriting, sensory processing, self-regulation, and adaptive skills.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, special education staff, and related service providers.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions toward IEP goals.
  • Participate in MDT/IEP meetings and maintain documentation per district/state requirements.

We're partnering with a school district in Marion County, Indiana to hire a dedicated School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) for the 2026–2027 school year.


This opportunity is onsite and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact supporting K–6 students across a diverse caseload. In this role, you'll provide occupational therapy services that help students access their educational environment, improve functional performance, and develop the skills needed for academic success, independence, and participation throughout the school day.



  • Location: Onsite in Marion County, IN

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday

  • Staff Hours: 7:10 AM – 3:10 PM

  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 hours per week

  • School Year: 2026–2027

  • Caseload: Approximately 70 students


Responsibilities


  • Provide school-based occupational therapy services aligned with students' IEP goals and educational needs.

  • Conduct evaluations and reassessments to identify functional, sensory, motor, and educationally relevant needs.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support student participation and success in the school setting.

  • Support fine motor, visual motor, handwriting, sensory processing, self-regulation, and adaptive skill development.

  • Recommend and implement adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with teachers, families, special education staff, and related service providers to promote carryover of therapeutic strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions to support achievement of IEP goals.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and IEP meetings.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.


Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

  • Active Indiana Occupational Therapist license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA)

  • Current NBCOT certification

  • Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred

  • Knowledge of special education regulations, IEP development, and school-based service delivery

  • Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams
