Job summary

Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Washington seeks a compassionate Occupational Therapist to evaluate, plan, organize and administer therapy services in accordance with current standards to ensure high-quality care. You will support therapy staff, maintain records, and provide safe, timely patient care.

The role requires a degree in Occupational Therapy and an active state license. Collaborate with physicians, set goals, and guide residents toward independence through therapeutic activities

Qualifications

  • Possess a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the assigned state.
  • Provide comprehensive therapy services and coordinate with medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support Therapists by providing guidance and training to technicians to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain and document all treatment records per clinic directives.
  • Provide therapeutic procedures and a full range of therapy services for patient referrals.
  • Develop documented treatment goals and plan programs based on patient evaluations.
  • Instruct and assist patients in daily living activities and use of assistive devices.
  • Record progress in patient charts and educate families for home continuation.
  • Coordinate treatment with physicians and staff to integrate therapy into overall care.

Job description

We are Good Samaritan Health Care Center, specializing in skilled nursing and long-term care services. We treat each of our residents with individualized compassionate care in a nurturing environment. We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join our team.

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, organizes and administers occupational therapy services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations and guidelines to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is rendered at all times. The occupational therapist maintains informative, accurate and timely documentation and records management and works collaboratively with all disciplines, adheres to the professional standards of practice guidelines and code of ethics as set forth by the state board of occupational therapy.
You will:
  • Support Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistants by providing periodic training and guidance as required to promulgate the educational needs of the technicians and to also enhance patient care.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives, and prepare such records and reports as may be required.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and provide a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals.Provide safe and timely patient care.
  • Develop realistic and documented treatment goals that comply with and satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff.Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems.Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Evaluate, fit, and adjust the patient’s prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in a treatment program, and integrate occupational therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care.

You currently:
  • Possess a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Possess, prior to, onboarding and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in assigned state.
