EXALT HEALTH REHABILITATION HOSPITAL SCOTTSDALE LL is seeking an Occupational Therapist to help patients regain independence after illness or surgery. You will conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide interventions to address diverse rehab needs.

You will educate patients and families on self-management, ensure progress after discharge, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted OT license in AZ or eligible to practice in the state.
  • Current BLS certification per AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and families on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
  • Support development of functional skills: strength, coordination, balance, and endurance.
  • Support cognitive skills development: memory, attention, problem-solving, reasoning.
  • Address pre-vocational or vocational skills: returning to work or retraining for a new career.
  • Recommend home modifications or assistive devices for safe transitions home.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other rehab professionals on care plans.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes to measure treatment effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on rehabilitation practices through continuing education.

Description

Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.

Position Summary

As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital part in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, or surgery. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to address a variety of patient needs. You will also educate patients and their families on self-management techniques to ensure continued progress after discharge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Education patients on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
  • Support patient development of functional skills: Strengthening, coordination, balance, and endurance.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications

  • Current, unencumbered license to practice professional Occupational Therapy in the state where currently practicing.
  • Current BLS required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required).
  • 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Proficient in documentation and medical record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in rehabilitation medicine.
