Job summary

KidsPeace Orono School in Maine seeks an Occupational Therapist to deliver therapeutic services under IEP/ITTR guidelines. Job description

The KidsPeace Orono School is a special-purpose private school serving youth, ages 3 -22 with developmental disabilities and emotional disorders.

Job Summary

As an Occupational Therapist at KidsPeace, you will play a crucial role in providing therapeutic services as mandated by students' Individualized Education Programs (IEP) or the Individual Treatment and Transition Review (ITTR) process. You will collaborate with staff, conduct assessments, and deliver both group and individual therapy. Your work will directly support the development of students with a range of needs, including those with autism and behavioral issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Provide consultation as mandated by IEPs or ITTR processes. Attend Multi-Disciplinary Intervention Plans (MIPs) as requested and collaborate with staff and other professionals.
  • Therapeutic Services: Conduct assessments, provide group and individual therapy, and maintain accurate daily therapy notes. Develop and write IEP goals based on assessments and individual needs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Write and provide three-month summaries in line with the ITTR process, addressing problem areas for inclusion in children's service plans two weeks prior to team meetings. Document progress on IEPs quarterly.
  • In-Service Training: Provide in-service education and training for staff members upon request.
  • On-Site Duties: Perform a variety of on-site duties including screenings, assessments, classroom collaboration, record review, and therapy services. Ensure all services comply with State and National accrediting and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • State of Maine license in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience working with youth, and clients with autism and/or behavioral issues is preferred.
  • Commitment to staying current in the field, including attaining required annual Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • Must pass Criminal Record History and Child Abuse History clearances.
