Job summary

SSM Health in Oklahoma City seeks an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and psychosocial deficits, in an Outpatient Medical Group Clinic setting.

You will implement treatment plans, educate patients and families, document progress, and coordinate discharge planning; a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate in OT and BLS HCP are required, with a 40-hour workweek on a day shift in Oklahoma.

Qualifications

• BLS HCP certification required within 90 days of employment.
• OT licensure as per state practice requirements.
• Degree in Occupational Therapy required for licensure.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient’s ability to safely perform independent living skills and designs the plan of care.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and documents patient progress.
• Educates patient and family/caregiver and assists with discharge planning and referral to adaptive equipment.
• Oversees care provided by designated staff according to regulations and standards.
• Performs duties with alertness and safety in mind.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Documents findings of patient progress. Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversees the care provided by designated individuals according to established regulations and practice standards.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, or related area as required to obtain licensure in state of practice

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Constant standing.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
• Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving patients.
• Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
